About The Author

                             Avul pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul kalam (15 October 1931 - 27 July 2015) was born to jainulabdeen and ashiamma in rameswaram. As a young boy, he sold newspapers to support his family's meagre income. After his school education, he joined st. joseph's college, Tiruchirapalli, and then moved on to madras institute of technology. he worked mainly at defence research and development organisation and the Indian space research organisation. in July 2002 he became the president of India. he authored a number of books. he loved teaching. he was honoured with over forty doctorates. the government of India conferred on him the nation's highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna in 1997. but most significantly, he won the hearts of millions of people as a vishwa guru, a missile man and the people's president. it is always inspiring and refreshing to read his works.

                         kalam's mother, ashiamma, was an ideal partner to jainulabdeen, kalam's father. she was a gentle, practical minded and pious women. she worked hard, spent little, ate not much, served many and all this without any sign of irritation or anger. she cooked well. she cared for everyone. her presence offered a comforting and soothing touch.
                  kalam picked up many lessons from his mother. he learnt from her the values of devotion selflessness and piety. he also understood from her that commitment to one's job counts more than the importance of the job. blessed was kalam to have ashiamma as his mother and her virtues were rewarded in having kalam as her son
